Plants At Home

Keeping plants in doors, in the garden, backyard, pool side and anywhere around the entire house territory has now become an essential element of decoration and interior designs. Keeping plants indoors particularly in homes where there is no space for garden gives an essence of greenery and natural habitat.

Popular indoor plants include Cactus, Succulents, Evergreens, Palms and various flowering plants. Potted plants all around the interior of home can help you feel the breeze of spring even when the weather is too harsh and sunny outside.

The advantages of keeping plants in door is not just restricted for decorative purpose, the herbs from the herbal plants can be used for cooking as well as creating artistic panorama. Indoor plants keep the inside air purified by increasing the Oxygen levels and taking is Carbon dioxide. Flowering plants add eye-catching colors to the entire decor. The plants which have high exchange rate of converting Carbon dioxide into Oxygen are best to be kept indoors. These plants inhale all the Carbon dioxide which is exhaled by humans as a result of breathing. The most popular Oxygen releasing plants that can be kept indoors are:

Areca Palm: during day this plant can covert a very high percentage of Carbon dioxide present in the living areas into Oxygen, along with this it can also remove Toluene and Xylene present in the air. If you have Areca Palm placed anywhere in your house than be careful to keep the plant free from dirt and dust so that it can work efficiently.

Sprouts: you can easily grow sprouts from buck wheat, sweet pea, lentils and sunflower making your own small green house in the living area or kitchen. These sprouts can also be used for cooking, making salads and can also be eaten raw to improve oxygen levels in the blood.

Mother-In-Law’s Tongue: also called as Snake Plant is the best indoor plant to be kept in bed rooms and other sleeping areas, as it works during night to exchange a lot of Carbon dioxide into Oxygen so the breathing air remains saturated with Oxygen during sleep. It can also purify the air by absorbing Formaldehyde. If you live in a place that lacks fresh air flow or it surrounded by air packed with combustible gases like roadside or house near to an industrial site than you should keep these plants indoors in order to make oxygen concentration readily available to breathe properly.

If you have kept plant indoor then take care of them so that they can last longer and look healthier. Don’t keep the plants near to a place that has direct heat or radiations as this speed up the weathering process and the plants will dry out earlier. Keep the plants free from pests and insects and spray them with insecticides. Add in recommended fertilizers to the soil. Some plants can withstand long without water like money plant but most of them need water daily. The pot selection should be according to the growth of the plant, repot the plants in spring as most of the plants undergo regeneration during spring, and give them enough space so that they can blossom well.
